Bhui amla – भूई आंवला
It is a small, annual, erect herb. It has a tuberous rhizome.
The leaves are simple, sub-sessile, numerous, distichous on
branches and small. They are elliptic-oblong in shape with a
rounded apex and entire margin. Lower surface shows presence
of small white scales.
The flowers are borne axillary, solitary, on the under-side of the
branches. The flowers are small and unisexual, with separate
male and female flowers.
The fruit is a smooth globose capsule with brown, longitudinally
ribbed seeds. The fruits burst open and the seeds are hurled
away, hence the name ‘Carry Me Seed’.
